Oliver Stone’s Alexander Revisited is now something of a masterwork. He is given the chance to remark the legend as he would have originally liked to have presented it. The 45 minutes of extra’s are moral extra’s…spread out in short 2 to 5 second edits…to more lengthly exchanges that happily include Brian Blessed as the Physical Instructor, Christopher Plummer as Aristotle and quite a bit more command over and character addition from Anthony Hopkins as the weak Ptolemy.
The action starts almost immediately with a longer, more graphic version of the Battle of Gaugemela (Wonderfully undertaken, Stone paying homage to the astronomical Sergei Bondarchuk with those terrific panning shots) and then works backwards through Alexanders youth. The film moves forward and backwards from there yet the original subtitles give you the year and how long, before or after, from the previous scene. It is quite instructive to anyone the slighest bit confused and is a helpful history lesson. Also kindly are longer dancing scenes with Roxanna’s troupe and Bogoas’ troupe…both obedient, filmic scenes…beautifully done. The Bogoas character (Francisco Bosch) is also expanded and made far more sympathetic.

The Indian Battle (wonderfully filmed in Thailand) is also more graphic as are some of the more intimate scenes yet nothing is without merit. This is not 2007, it’s 330BC and mores and the conception of battle, honor, fidelity etc were different for those times. I for one, praise Mr. Stone for a very proper feel and presence…and even minor characters are explained in far greater detail…such as the young Guardsman who killed Philip (Kilmer) …in a flashback we search for his motives. It is now far more beautifully edited…from a master filmaker who values editing, JFK gets my vote as the best edited film of all time.
I am giving it 5 Stars…a masterpiece. Do peer the Stone introduction, he says it better than I…”If you liked the new you’ll treasure this, if you hated the unusual you’ll loathe this even more!” Now there is a man!
The only portion I am saddened about is that over the slay titles Vangelis’ record fragment ‘Titans’ is level-headed only 2 minutes long…yet it fits the edit…and I would race you to rob the CD for the complete 4 shrimp version…one of the best pieces of film music I felt ever written.
I originally sat on the fence in my conception of the theatre release of Alexander, but Alexander Revisited has won me over as admirer of the film. The fresh cleave has a truly chronicle feel and the leading characters are portrayed with more breadth and depth. In particular, the climactic crises of Alexander’s career are conveyed more intelligibly and convincingly than before. I am the author of both academic articles and non-fiction books on Alexander, so I feel I should comment particularly on the historical accuracy of the film. In my view Alexander Revisited is notably just, intrepid and valid in its pursuit of historical accuracy. Although Oliver has deliberately conflated events which actually occurred at different times and places into single scenes (I assume he had to in order to reveal the whole chronicle in a single film), almost everything has some kind of historical basis in the group of 2000 year ragged accounts, which provide most of our knowledge of Alexander. For example, such details as Cleitus severing the arm of a Persian about to strike Alexander, the incident with the monkeys in India and Alexander’s visit to the wounded after the battle are all in the sources. Even that eagle is mentioned by Curtius. Furthermore, many snippets of dialogue are based on words actually said to have been spoken by Alexander: e.g. “He too is Alexander”, “So would I if I were Parmenion”, “It is a glorious thing to live with courage…” Ample attention to historical detail was also paid to the costumes and scenery. Babylon was particularly agreeable – the ziggurat, the flowers and the caged huge cats were all really there when Alexander drove into the city in a chariot. Overall, Alexander Revisited gives a more authentic sense of the exact history than any other film about the obsolete world that I can consider of. Gladiator was a grand film, but its greatness owed more to Marvel humorous strip principles of action and violence than to its setting in used Rome. Alexander Revisited is a vast film because it tells one of the most compelling human stories in all of history with faithfulness, drama and pathos.

Directed by Pete Hewitt, this clever, offbeat shrimp caper comedy is enhanced by a subtle script from Michael Lesieur and scrumptious performances by four of today’s finest character actors.

William H. Macy, Morgan Freeman and Christopher Walken are just security guards in an art museum, but when they learn that their three accepted artworks are being transferred to a museum in Denmark, they concoct a notion to switch the right masterpieces with fakes.
It’s the blind leading the blind as these incompetent thieves assign their conception into motion and, according to “Murphy’s Law,” anything that can go despicable, does in this laugh-out-loud comedy.

Marcia Delighted Harden co-stars as Walken’s wife, who has a “surprise” coming her plan before the movie’s conclude.
DVD extras include director/writer audio commentary, a “Making of” featurette, deleted scenes and bloopers.

It went straight to video, apparently because of grief with the company that owned the distribution rights, but if “Wild Hogs” made money, this shouldn’t have had any grief.
The location involves two museum security guards who’ve fallen in adore with two paintings, and a third guard who has . . . some other relationship with a statue, destined to be sold to another museum and replaced by friendly horrific new art repellent to the guys, namely Christopher Walken, Morgan Freeman and William Macy. By the title you can pronounce what their solution is, so I need say no more about that.
The tone is light, comedic, but there are no loyal out-loud laughs, despite best efforts. Obviously the acting is very helpful, the chemistry works, but there are very spacious holes in reason and accepted sense. That shouldn’t bother you if you don’t query too considerable out of the movie, but it’s might be rather annoying at times to some. Unruffled, overall it worked reasonably well, too dreadful it didn’t win a chance at the mall.

Wow!! Simply Wow!!
Vandread is without a doubt my accepted anime series!! There are so many different aspects that effect an ordinary anime series into a perfect one and Vandread has them all!!
1.) The myth line is mighty and determined.

Sometimes in anime the narrative line is not really definite and makes you conclude and contemplate about what was meant. I really don’t mind that at all. However Vandread is not like that at all, the epic line is very easy to follow and very addictive. Everything about who they were fighting; to why the men of Taraak an women Mejale live on seperate planets. This is truly an fantastic record of admire and courage that you will remember.
2.) Huge GONZO!!!
Another aspect that can really effect a noteworthy anime is the style of animation and CG 3D Animation. Let me unprejudiced say that GONZO is freaking astonishing!! In case you were wondering, GONZO is an animation studio that has really made a name for itself for it’s style of animation. With series like Pudgy Metal Alarm, Hellsing, and Last Exile <-(check this one out, simply fabulous animation and CG!!) honest to name a few though they all were done after Vandread, GONZO has proven their uncanny ability to blend together beautifully drawn animation with some attractive amzing CG 3D graphics.

Vandread was upright to GONZO’s name with the rich and and colorfull animations and 3D graphics. The battle scenes were probably some of the best for the time that this was made, and the MECH designs were also respectable. The animation in Vandread truly made it mezmorizing to gape.
3.) Memorable Characters…
This was truly the aspect I enjoyed the most about Vandread. I contemplate that Dita Liebely is probably one of the best chararters ever drawn. She’s cute, emotional, clumbsy and has a hilarious personality all in one, all you can seek information from from a female anime character. Her counterpart “Mr. Alien” or Hibiki Tokai your typical male hero that saves unprejudiced about every day. The whole crew of the Nivana is probably in inlove with him (including Bart!) The rest of the characters in the series are impartial as memorable as these two are
4.) The Ending!!
Wow, the ending of this series was touching. I don’t want to say anything to spoil the ending but this is probably one of the best ending to an anime series I have seen!!
If you have not started watching Vandread as of yet and are a fan of Mecha series, deem yourself a slacker!! I can not say enough pleasant thing about this series, it simply wonderful.
Other recomendations:
Martian Successor Nadesico, Neon Genesis Evangelion, RahXephon, Fat Metal Dread…… any fan of mecha will likt this series, I promise!!
